“Every nurse was drawn to nursing because of a desire to care, to serve, or to help.”
This quote from author Christina Feist-Heilmeier, RN, MSN, rings incredibly true in the nursing world. As CNO at Tailored Healthcare Staffing, I sometimes get the opportunity to meet nurses whose dedication to their patients and co-workers goes well beyond what’s necessary to just “get the job done.” For these nurses, their passion coincides with their career in a truly remarkable way.
It’s with great pride that recruiter Taylor Huffine and the rest of our team at Tailored Healthcare Staffing celebrate one such travel nurse, Hong Megan Nguyen, a recent recipient of The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. Please join us in thanking Megan for her dedication to her patients, their families, and her assigned facility!
Megan is currently on an assignment in Chicago.
Here’s what her manager on a recent assignment had to say:
Hong Megan Nguyen is a rock star. She collaborates and is willing to help.
Megan is outstanding. She works well with others and is compassionate and understanding of the issues our unique population has. She exemplifies a DAISY nurse.
She always has a smile on her face and is polite and pleasant to patients and staff. I wish I could hire her full-time. She is such an asset.
I have just completed chart audits today. I found a chart where Megan did the best documentation on medication reconciliation that I have seen to date. She documented how she involved the patient and family to ensure that the list was accurate. She has handled stroke patients that are transferred out to a higher level of care better that any of the other contract nurses and some of our regular staff. Again, she involved family in the process and kept them informed of the transition of care.
Please join the entire THS team in thanking Megan for her incredible dedication to her patients, their families, and her peers on assignment!

The DAISY Award honors the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. The award was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who passed away in late 1993 after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease ITP. Patrick’s family brainstormed about what they could do in his memory, and vividly recalled the skillful and compassionate care he received from his nurses during his eight-week hospitalization. To say thank you to nurses everywhere, they established a recognition program known today as The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses.
