“I attribute my success to this; I never gave nor took any excuse.”
This quote from Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, rings incredibly true in today’s healthcare field. As CNO at Tailored Healthcare Staffing, I sometimes get the opportunity to meet nurses whose dedication to their patients and co-workers goes well beyond what’s necessary to just “get the job done.” For these nurses, their passion coincides with their career in a truly incredible way.
It’s with great pride that recruiter Richard Fullarton and the rest of our team at Tailored Healthcare Staffing celebrate one such travel nurse, Tiffany Williams, a recent recipient of The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. Please join us in thanking Tiffany for her dedication to her patients, their families, and her assigned facility!
Tiffany is currently on an assignment in North Carolina.
Here’s what her THS recruiter had to say following the recent strike of Hurricane Florence:
During Hurricane Florence, Tiffany remained at her assigned facility, continuing to give the best care possible to all her patients as many of the permanent staff called in or headed further inland. Tiffany, however, stayed while not knowing what effect the storm was having on her home.
Tiffany was caring for a blind patient a few days ago who had suffered a heart attack. Tiffany was greeted by the man’s wife when she entered the room and immediately noticed the wife’s distress. The room was in disarray, remnants from the man’s procedure were scattered around the room, a tray of tools had been on knocked on the ground, and the patient himself had visible bleeding on his gown. Tiffany took care of the patient first, being sure to describe everything she was doing and what feelings to expect as she began to clean him up. Tiffany then cleaned the entire room, all while easing the concerns of the patient and his wife, and by the time she was finished, everyone was laughing and joking. Tiffany’s kindness helped put a smile on the patient’s face during a very stressful time. The wife not only pulled Tiffany aside and thanked her for the care that Tiffany gave her husband, but she also went on to write a letter describing the events which she sent to the facility.
When I spoke with Tiffany yesterday, she informed me that she was on her way home, since she was off for the next couple of days, and that her home had been devastated by Hurricane Florence. Portions of her roof are gone, which allowed the 26 inches of rain to seep into the walls and ceiling. Drywall, electrical, carpeting and most likely an entirely new roof will be needed. Tiffany has always, and will always, put every patient ahead of herself, her home, and even her own safety. She is honest, professional, faithful, and in my opinion a true DAISY nurse.
Please join the entire THS team in thanking Tiffany for her remarkable dedication to her patients, their families, and her peers on assignment!

The DAISY Award honors the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. The award was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who passed away in late 1993 after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease ITP. Patrick’s family brainstormed about what they could do in his memory, and vividly recalled the skillful and compassionate care he received from his nurses during his eight-week hospitalization. To say thank you to nurses everywhere, they established a recognition program known today as The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses.
